Living Ahimsa

For practicing Ahimsa, Yogis advise us to build the muscle of compassion and empathy through placing ourselves in the skin of another being where we may come to realize that their soul is the same as our soul and the pain they feel, we can feel too.

“Human beings cannot understand another’s life until they have carried the weight of that person’s burdens, listened to that person’s words, felt that person’s pain, observed that person’s actions, and walked along that person’s path, sharing the other’s greatest longings and aspirations. Understanding these things, we must then be able to sleep at that person’s fire, sharing every part of the other being’s dreams and nightmares.

From this vantage point, we may see beyond the tangible frailties into the spiritual essence”

-I found this in a book of inspiring words at my grandmother’s house. Forgive me I know not the author. If you know, please inform me!
